Does growth start with people or products?

To be relevant as an organization or a person/employee what approach would you take for your Go-To-Market? A or B?

A:

  • Growth starts with selling products: hitting your targets, driving up the stock price...
  • My product can be sold to everyone in the market...
  • Develop/adopt products and then find out if there is a need or market for it...
  • Knowledge sharing and enablement is only about your organization and your products...

B:

  • Growth starts with people; attracting and retaining talent, serving communities for a better world...
  • Have a focus on IxP (Ideal x Profile): Ideal Customer Profile, Ideal Partner Profileetc. ...
  • Develop/adopt products based on needs in the market...
  • Knowledge sharing and enablement is about the needs and value of the people you serve and the market you are in...

We believe and stand for approach B, although we see that organizations find it challenging and difficult to transform from A to B. Not so strange as it is a cultural shift that requires a clear vision and strong leadership to drive this.
